Featuring the "origin" of Speed Racer.

When Speed's older brother Rex is forced off a cliff, the police suspect he was merely drinking or driving too fast. Pops and Rex had spent a lot of time building the Mach V. With Rex gone, there wouldn't be anyone able to drive it. He will be forced to sell the Mach V to pay back the bank. Speed says he can because Rex taught him everything before he died.

Pops isn't exactly thrilled with the idea but allows Speed to try to talk to the racing officials. Speed is only seventeen and the rules state you must be eighteen. The officials admire his determination and confidence but say he's too young.

Speed jumps the Mach V onto the track right when the qualifying race begins. Speed manages to beat all the other professional racers. The high racing official known as the Colonel has second thoughts. He sees the potential Speed has and the fact that he will pack the stadiums with paying spectators.

Speed is on his way to being the best racer there is.
